Elevated IL-6 and Metabolic Conditions

89.png

IL-6 is a key mediator in the development and progression of metabolic conditions such as diabetes and obesity. Chronic inflammation driven by elevated IL-6 levels contributes to insulin resistance, a hallmark of type 2 diabetes, impairing glucose metabolism and worsening blood sugar control. In obesity, IL-6 is secreted by adipose tissue, fueling systemic inflammation that exacerbates metabolic dysfunction and increases the risk of related complications. By managing IL-6 through dietary changes, exercise, and targeted therapies, it may be possible to reduce inflammation, improve metabolic health, and lower the risk of diabetes and obesity-related complications.
