Elevated IL-6 and Mental Health
IL-6 is a critical player in the relationship between inflammation and mental health. Elevated levels of this pro-inflammatory cytokine have been linked to depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, with research suggesting that chronic inflammation can alter brain chemistry and neurotransmitter function. IL-6 dysregulation is also associated with increased stress sensitivity and impaired mood regulation. Managing IL-6 through lifestyle changes, dietary interventions, and targeted therapies may offer new avenues to improve mental health and emotional resilience.
